Ležim v neudobni, beli postelji v bolnišnici in urejam misli v svoji glavi. Mojo posteljo so postavi zraven spečega fanta, ki je ves obdan s cevkami. Joj, kako smrči. Pa kako mi gre na živce! Najraje bi ga nekam poslala. Veste kako težko je medtem o nečem razmišljati? Z nekaj truda se zatopim v pretekle dogodke................

Mama še vedno čudno jeclja. Kaj naj naredim? "Mami je vse v redu?" naposled vprašam. Ne dobim odgovora. Čez nekaj minut se odločim, da bom poklicala očeta. Na žalost spi. Le kako bi ga prebudila? S srečno novico ali šokom? Verjetno je bolje, da kar s tazadnjo možnostjo, da se navadi na nov šok. "ATIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII! MAMI JE RAZBILA AVTO!" zakričim čez celo hišo. Mama me sploh ne pogleda.
Kmalu je pred mojimi vrati že ves jezen in šokiran oče. "Dan ljubi očka. Si se le zbudil?" začnem pogovor in se zraven ljubko zahihitam. "Mary, da se to nikoli več ne ponovi! Jasno?" jezno reče, ko le spozna, da tisto prej ni bilo res. "Seveda, seveda. Ne bo se več ponovilo. Ampak sam veš kako nadležna je mami. Bi jo prosim pospremil iz sobe in prinesel vrečko čipsa, saj ne čutim nog?" mu hudomušno odgovorim. Oče ostane brez besed. Starša se danes res čudno vedeta.
Hitro oddide v spalnico po telefon in deja mami: "Draga ne skrbi. Poklical bom reševalce. Ne bom storil iste napake!" Kakšne napake? Že želim odpreti usta, ko me prekini oče: "Ljubica, prosim ne zdaj s tem." Namrdim se in se udobno namestim v postelji.
Oče je poklical reševalce. Niso še prišli. Res čudno je čakati nanje v postelji in nič narediti. Odločim se, da bom raje malo zadremala. Že se toplo zavijem v posteljo, ko nekdo potrka na vhodna vrata. "Prišli so," izdavi oče in jim odide odpreti vrata.
Dva moška v uniformah sta me s skupnimi močmi dala na nosila in se napotila po stopnicah. Ker sem rabila nekaj razburljivega sem zaprla oči in pokazala jezik. Delala sem, da sem mrtva. Kmalu sem začutila, da smo se ustavili. Zaduhala sem odvraten moški zadah. Hitro sem odprla oči. Reševalec me je verjetno hotel oživaljati. Upsi.

Kmalu smo prispeli v bolnišnico kjer so me napotili v belo bolniškiško sobo s smrčečim fantom. Zdravnik me je ravnokar pregledal. Po njegovem je pregled neuspešen. Odšel je iz sobe do staršem, ki so še vedno v pižami. Kako sramotno. Oče si je doma iz malce solidnosti nadel klovnski klobuk. Čudovito. Skozi steklo opazijem kako jima zdravnik nekaj govori. Mami splozi solza po licu. Zdaj me je že na smrt strah. Čez nekaj časa vstopijo notri. Mami si z rokavom majce hitro obriše solze in otožno smrkne. Zdravnik me brezizrazno pogleda in počasi izdavi: "Imamo slabo novico, gospodična. Nikoli več ne boste hodili." Besede mi odmevajo po glavi.
